The WATEX™ System is a crucial technology for providing water to isolated and desertic mining regions.
CONTEXT
The Gold and Rare Earths exploration in the southeast of the Aïr massif in Niger is heavily penalized by lack of water. Here, areas of interest straddle two very different geological units: on one side is the metamorphosed basement composed of migmatites and on the other an assembly of ophiolites.
Through the
WATEX™ system, groundwater and mineral exploration is feasible. Regarding the prospecting interest in Niger, we focus on volcano-sedimentary deposits, rich in heavy metals. The intrusive bodies, whose magmatism and metamorphism are related to the pan-African orogeny, have led to the expulsion of fluids.
The structures hosting Rare Earths are easily recognizable by their deep blue color.
But once the mineralized veins have been identified,
no action can be taken without access to water.
